You are working on the front layer of the tube, with the right side facing you, just like in regular circular knitting. It can be frustrating, because you are making twice the motions, for the same amount of knitting. Also, it's easy to make a mistake in the passing of the yarn, and connecting your work. In the case of the flowers this doesn't matter, but in socks it does!<BR/><BR/>To work double knitting more efficiently, you can do it inside out...if you knit one and slip the next one across the row, (ending slip one) you are knitting on the _back_ of the tube, so that the purl side is out, and the slipped stitches are the front of the row. You can knit a stitch, and as you "peek through the window" extend the needle point and grab the next stitch to slip it off the needle in that same motion, so it doesn't take any more motions to slip the stitch, making it as efficient as regular knitting.<BR/><BR/>So, the pattern is correct, but you stumbled on the other kind of double knitting!
