Still growing

I'm so smitten with the chinese button knot and just can't stop making them! Check out the ginormous pom pom knots I made for this cute pink hat to match the ribbed jacket I made last week.

I started by making a 6 stitch i-cord on 3.75mm needles with baby yarn, stuffed it with 6 pieces of yarn (threading them through the icord tube with a darning needle) so that it wouldn't collapse on itself and look more like a thick cord, made the knot following these directions, trimmed the ends, sewed them together and attached it to the hat. Voila! So cute ;0)

That's pretty much the extent of the knitting I got done this weekend because we were busy socialising bees these past 4 days: shopping with auntie t and dinner with my sister and her family on Thursday, visiting my best friend from work for dinner on Friday (boy, can her husband cook!), cleaning house in anticipation of a visit from friends and their 22 and 3 month old babes to go sleeper shopping at the Baby's Own factory outlet on Saturday and brunching with the in-laws yesterday. Phew! Needless to say, I'm glad it's Monday today.

And Julian, well he's still growing. Here he is in his infant car seat for the last time having out grown it already. We also loaned out the bouncer and returned the Jolly Jumper this weekend since he outgreww those too in the last few weeks. The swing will probably have to go next, but I will be really sad to see that one go since it's still the only way he'll settle down for a nap in the afternoon. The limit on it is 24 lbs. He's currently 21 lbs.

And he keeps growing, and growing, and growing....

P.S.: Hillary over at Wee Wonderfuls has posted a free pattern for the most delightful (and simple) wee bunny today. Go check it out. I've already started working on mine and hope to show you later this week.

  5. Don't give up on the nap! It's really great. I always told the kids they didn't have to sleep but they had to stay in bed and nearly every time I would check on them they'd be asleep. When my kids got older and went to camp in the summer for a week they had to take F.O.B...Flat On Bunk. I've even adopted this idea with my older kids when they're all home for the summer and making me nuts. They can read or write or even play Game Boy, but for an hour or so it's quiet. Find your own way to get a break. You'll be glad you did.

  6. Those knots are so cute!

Do you have a rocking chair? Would Julian settle down if you were to rock him a little?

Thanks for the link to the bunny...gonna go check it out now!

  7. Way to go, Anny ... I-cord knots! This little set is just so cute. Did the hat pattern come from the same book as the sweater? My granddaughter is expecting a girl in April and altho I made hera pink sweater set .... you're set would be sooooo cute in any color. I should make another set!

  8. Very cute hat! I can't believe how big your little guy is ... My friends have a 6 month old who is pretty big too. She is 18.5lbs. My Lily (who is 2 and a half years old) only weighs about 27lbs. Or maybe my babies were just really tiny ... Who knows?! LOL Nonetheless he is adorable and one day you will have to beat the girls away with a stick. :)

  9. That kid is so cute! Very stylish too! You have to love growth spurts - I am not so sure about girls but boys seem to have huge ones that take over and then they settle down for a while. He must be in the right environment if he is growing like a weed! I love the buttons/bobbles; they are too cute!

  10. If it makes you feel better, my wee one couldn't settle for a nap without the swing either. Then, one day, she just sort of gave it up and it has been fairly smooth sailing ever since. Well, she still cries sometimes for a couple of minutes but she always settles herself.
