Well we tried our best this weekend. We mopped and vaccumed. We took long walks around the mall. We drove over lots of speed bumps in the parking lot. I took warm soothing baths to relax. And even got to enjoy a really nice date night with hubby (*wink *wink)! But still no baby. That means we only have one more week to try to get things going on our own before our doctor takes over and induces labour...
So my strategy for the week is distraction! Since everything is ready: socks are knit, bags are packed, car seat installed, nursery organised, house sparkling, contingency plans for getting to the hospital and arrangements for Julian during our stay there done...well, there really isn't any reason for me to dwell on any of this this week now is there?
So I'm going to will myself to think about other things, starting with the knitting! See that picture up there? It's not a baby knit. No Sir-ee, Bob! That there is a really, really old project and long overdue present for dada. Anyone recognise it? It's Knitty's anniversary sweater that I started working on almost a year ago.
It was intended as a present for my honey on the occasion of our second (aka cotton) anniversary which we celebrated on April 17th of last year. Needless to say it's been slow going. I have the back done and just cast on for the front. I figure as long as I give it to him before April 17th of this year, it'll still count as a cotton anniversary gift ;0)
(See how I didn't think about it for a whole paragraph there? I can totally do this ;0)

I dont know why, but it always seems like your second baby takes longer to arrive!! Hang in there!!! I love your knitting!!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it!
ReplyDeleteThinking labor thoughts for you -- inducing is no fun!
ReplyDeleteSending you labour vibes! A fast and speedy delivery that starts soon! love the sweater!
ReplyDeletehey anny! your anniversary and ours is the same day, april 17th! this will be our 25th and we are going to be first-time grandparents( a girl!).
ReplyDeleteyour hubby will love his anniversary sweater whenever he gets it. i knit my honey "anniversary socks"( dress socks that bagged on his girlie, only thing girlie about him, ankles) and one year later i ripped out the cuffs and reknit them in ribbing. that was a one-year later anniversary present-in-the-works, modified!
hope the baby lemon makes his arrival very soon. oh the wait....
Oh the waiting is terrible, isn't it? I was induced and Kristine is right...no fun at all.
ReplyDeleteok, sillly little tricks:
ReplyDeletegreasy food, lots of oregano.

ReplyDeleteThis website made me laugh hard enough to pee, maybe it will make you laugh hard enough for your water to break. If not, it's at least distracting.
Maybe some spicy food would kick the little lemon into gear? We're all waiting with you, fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteIt'll happen soon. Don't thing about it.
ReplyDeleteI don't mean to pry - especially as I'm only a lurker here up to now - but why are they inducing you early? Anyway, you could try some Clary Sage essential oil (just a little To Smell on a burner or dropped into hot water) if you want to encourage labour. Not a good idea if you Don't want to encourage labour by the way. Worked for me!
ReplyDeleteOh dear. I'd hoped the lack of a post meant that you were busy with the new babe. Not long now either way!
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea. He deserves it.
ReplyDeleteIndian food, LONG walks and evening primrose oil. *I* think the last was what kicked my labor in gear but I guess we'll never know. I was so desperate. I hope you're coping well!
ReplyDeleteThe sweater looks beautiful! Get the knitting in now!
The sweater is looking great, and maybe if you make lots of progress on it baby number 2 will turn up. I remember when my partner drove over speed humps to induce labour, even though it did not work. I never went into labour until the checkup with the doctor, and then it would start that night. Good luck.
ReplyDeletethe waiting...the waiting...Have you tried a pedicure? There's supposed to be something about the leg massage that does the trick - It never worked for me but it does for some, and then you have nice toes during delivery!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty sweater! I've been loving the things you knit lately, and you always take such nice pictures.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to meet Lemondrop! But he'll be here before you know it.
Hope something happens soon for you. Love the cables, but hope you don't get to finish!
ReplyDeleteI'm told that castor oil in some orange juice works wonders. It certainly did for a good friend of mine, in fact almost too well. What the hey.
